Repair Services
Our repair service is totally
fault driven.
When you send a drive to us we charge an Inspection
fee to clean, inspect and determine the fault/test the drive. If the
cost of repair does not exceed this charge, the drive is then returned.
In the event of the cost to repair exceeding the above
charge we advise you of the cost - you then have the choice to proceed
within your budget.
Your options maybe to proceed with the repair, swop
or upgrade or return. Whatever your budget requires. You control the
process and the cost!

All units are thouroughly
tested after repair and we produce a printout of the Read/Wite performance
of the machine, which we send to you, so that you can see the working
condition of the unit.
The test suite consists, where applicable,of:
Read & Write testing
Maximum throughput and elapsed
time
Errors reported - hard errors
and temporary errors
Compatibility using various
manufactured tapes and densities
Varying Block sizes

Legacy and Second-User
Tape Drives
TapeMasters offer a complete service to repair and maintain
legacy tape drives. Our unique experience involving all aspects of computer
tape drives, robotics and media, allows us to investigate and remedy
problems. Thus ensuring the machines continue to give good service for
many years to come.
IBM 3590
IBM 3590 (pictured right) is still a popular tape
drive used
very much in the Seismic and Data interchange business.
We supply Second-user, Factory refurbished units in the
following configuration B1A, B11, E1A & E11.
We can provide upgraded machines from B units to E units and PX B's
for E's
We also offer a Repair Exchange service.
All are ready to put on IBM maintenance or we can provide
you with a cost effective alternative in the UK.
3490E
and 3480 tape drives; these
drives are still available as refurbished units and all come with a warranty
to plug and play.
We can no longer supply new 3490E All products in this
range as they have been designated 'End of Life'
We produce final test results for each machine we supply
with a warranty, which shows the Read & Write performance of each
individual unit.
We service and repair all 3590, 3490E and 3480 tape drives;
IBM 3590, M4 M490E, STK 9440, VDS/JVC MS-8436, StorageTek STK 4280,
4220, Overland Data T490E & L490E, Fujitsu 2483, 2485, 2488 etc.
It should be understood that some of the units may not
be economic to repair particularly if a new replacement head is required.
We can supply all of the parts for your tape drives as required and
will quote repair on an individual basis.
Open
Reel Tape Drives
Yes still going and the requirement for good drives with
good tape handling is growing as the tapes deteriorate.
Open Reel ½" 9track GCR tape drives are still available
as refurbished units and all come with a warranty to plug and play.
We will support all drives supplied by us on a maintenance agreement
if required, provided it is continuous from the warranty.
We service and repair all Open Reel tape drives. It should
be understood that some of the units may not be economic to repair particularly
if a new replacement head is required. We can source most of the parts
for your tape drives as required and will quote on an individual basis.
